Lianna met Peter in January 2018 at the same church that started a Church-to-Church partnership with her home church in California. They soon had the same circle of friends and their friendship grew throughout the years. In May 2020, they got married and welcomed their daughter in March 2022.

In August of 2011, 17 year old Lianna Tanis traveled to Uganda for the first time. Despite traveling to half a dozen countries before on short-term mission trips, she was immediately captivated by the people and the culture in Kabale, and knew she would be back.
Pilot-project launched under World Renew, Uganda. The world shutdown due to COVID-19, but we continued to care for our 30 patients during that time.
Registered as a Non-Governement Organization (NGO) in Uganda and a 501c(3) corporation in California, USA. Increased staff from 3 to 6. Moved office from a tiny closet to a beautiful home.
Purchased first piece of land for future in-patient hospice facility. Increased staff from 6 to 10.
Registered as a licensed health clinic with Uganda’s Ministry of Health. Became Accredited to stock and supply Oral Liquid Morphine. Peter finished his Masters in Public Health and Lianna started her 2-year Masters in Palliative Care program. 3 staff completed short-courses in palliative care. Added another palliative care nurse to the team.
Received first grant through Africa Palliative Care Association. Welcomed first team of kinesiology students from Azusa Pacific University. Conducting two research projects to improve care in South Western Uganda. Added another palliative care nurse to the team, making the total number of staff 11.
