Kabale Christian Care employed six new staff in this quarter and they have all performed so well in their endeavors. KCC hired a community health nurse, Christine, who assesses and visits patients in the villages and designated areas where every patient is located, which is done together with the community volunteers.

KCC has a social worker, Julian, who works closely with the nurse to provide psychosocial support and counseling to the patients. The office has an accountant, Rodgers, who helps in budgeting and management of finances. KCC employed a cook, Sayuni, who helps in the kitchen to prepare morning tea, lunch and also to ensure the office stays clean. In addition to the cook, there’s a gate man/gardener, Felix. Lastly, KCC office administrator, Sarah, who has been with KCC since 2018, helps in welcoming visitors to the office and directs whoever comes to the office to the right place. She also helps in meeting the administrative duties at the KCC office.

We thank God for this wonderful team!

KCC’s patients have increased, but unfortunately, so have the number of deaths. We lost three patients in the last three months, which is never easy. However, the numbers of patients have increased from 27- 42 and many more are to come due to the research that KCC did through health facilities around Kabale town and through the distribution of KCC’s brochures. KCC had 27 patients in June, and we are currently caring for 42. We anticipate additional patients with the ongoing registration. The target in this financial year (June 2022) is to reach one hundred patients.

Amaranth is a super grain! It’s a nutritious product that is rich in vitamins, iron and micronutrients that help mostly patients with HIV/AIDS and those with low immunity. In the past, KCC would buy popped Amaranth from a church member, which also supported her business. However, now our cook and other women pop amaranth directly from the office! It’s one way KCC will become sustainable, from the growth and selling of this grain.
